E L G I N
The city of Elgin was created by the Houston and Texas Central Railroad in 1872 and named for Robert Morris Elgin. Elgin is considered the "Sausage Capital of Texas" since it has been making great sausage since 1882. It is also known for its reliable bricks and has three brick making companies still in existence.
The community is rich is history and has been designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a National Main Street Community and has many award winning examples of historic preservation.
