Kyle is a charming community, and it is the second largest city in Hays County. It is often referred to with its close neighbor as "Buda/Kyle." At its site, the Balcones escarpment meets the blackland prairie. To the east there is farming and to the west, ranching.

Kyle is a quickly growing area due to its laid-back life-style and easy access to San Antonio, Austin, and to the Texas Hill Country. KYLE LOCATION AND FACTS -- Kyle is 23 miles south of Austin, 7 miles south of Buda, and 10 miles north of San Marcos. It is located in Hays County on I-35 and FM 150.

Kyle has two famous trees: The Auction Oak and The Kyle Hanging Tree ( Click on the names for their images and short histories. )
  • The Auction Oak is located inside Kyle on Sledge Street, about two blocks south of Center Street. Since there seem to be two distinct trunks, it is sometimes referred to as The Auction Oaks.
  • The Kyle Hanging Tree is a few miles down Old Post Road on your left.
