Arts & Culture Around here….
What do you get when you cross New York City’s world class performance arts, San Fransciso’s colorful culture, Hollywood’s silver screen fame, Colorado’s intense rock climbing, Braill’s Carnaval craze and France’s cycling frenzy? Austin, Texas!
There’s a reason why Austin is known as “The Live Music Capital of the World." Austin’s live music scene began blossoming in the early 1970’s and continues growing today. With dozens of great living music events to choose from every night of the week, there is never a dull moment. If the fine arts are your thing, enjoy the many Broadway and Off-Broadway performances that roll through town, classical and modern dance, or professional theatrical shows (both traditional and avant-garde). For an evening of lighter entertainment fare, sit back and let Austin’s local and visiting comedians point out the finer points of life.
Austin is the most artsy city in Texas, according to a report issued in June 2008 by the National Endowment for the Arts. The accolade is based on the percentage of artists in the work force. It is also #20 out of the top 50 nationally. Austin recognizes the importance of artists to the cultural vitality and economic prosperity of the community.
PERFORMING ARTS

rollicking entertainment. The stage at One World Theatre presents a
multi-cultural world of music and dance.
